Wildwood Apple Blossom: French Knots

November 06, 2024

Fluffy French Knots... I really can not get enough of them.  They are such a work horse of a stitch. In the video below, I show you how I combine these stitches to make a fluffy, highly textured flower in my Apple Blossom Wildwood design.

To do a French knot in hand embroidery, you can follow these steps:
  1. Bring the needle up through the fabric where you want the knot to be
  2. Point the needle away from the work and wrap the thread around the needle once or twice
  3. Turn the needle and go back down through the fabric in or near the same hole you came up through
  4. Hold the thread tightly but not too tight
  5. Bring the needle back down through the fabric with the other hand
  6. Pull the thread and let go
