Harvest Fields Beginner Embroidery Kit

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner

DESIGN: Fields

Harvest Fields is the easiest way to fall in love with embroidery. This beginner hand embroidery kit stitches up a sun-warmed field in coral and mustard: the last golden weeks of summer just as they tip into fall. It uses just three simple stitches and is finishable in a single cozy weekend. It’s also forgiving: if a stitch goes wrong, you cover it with another one and keep going.

A gift for the teen who’s impossible to shop for
Teens are notoriously hard to buy for, and Harvest Fields is one of the gifts that actually lands. It’s screen-free without feeling like homework. It’s simple enough to finish, and the result is pretty enough to hang on a bedroom wall. It’s also a lovely pick for the friend who’s said “I’ve always wanted to try embroidery” but hasn’t started yet. Everything they need comes in the box, so they can open it and start stitching the same day.

Designed and stitched by hand
Every Fields design is drawn and hand-stitched by Colleen, the artist behind And Other Adventures, before it ever becomes a kit. Each kit is assembled, packed, and shipped from our studio in Fort Worth, Texas. It’s a real person’s artwork, not a computer-generated pattern.

What’s in the kit

  • Cotton fabric pre-printed with the design, already tightly hooped for you
  • 6-inch embroidery hoop, which doubles as the frame
  • Full skeins of DMC embroidery floss
  • Embroidery needle
  • A beginner-friendly, step-by-step stitch guide with tips and tricks
  • Access to online stitch tutorials

Gift tip: scissors aren’t included. Add a pair of our embroidery scissors so it’s ready to stitch the moment it’s unwrapped.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a good embroidery kit for a teenager?
Yes. Fields is our easiest design and a favorite for tweens and teens. The pattern is structured enough that they won’t get lost, and forgiving enough that mistakes are easy to cover.

I’ve never embroidered before. Can I really do this?
Absolutely. Harvest Fields teaches three beginner stitches, and the step-by-step guide and online video tutorials walk you through each one. No experience is needed.

How long does it take to finish?
Most beginners finish in a relaxed weekend, about the length of a couple of movies or a good audiobook.

What else do I need?
Just a small pair of scissors. Everything else comes in the box, and the fabric arrives already hooped.

How big is the finished piece?
It finishes in a 6-inch hoop, ready to hang as is. No framing required, but you can add one of our Hoop Frames for an extra touch.
