Some designs come together in an afternoon. Jardín took six years.
I first sketched the Jardín ("garden" in Spanish) hand embroidery design back in 2017 — and then I promptly put it on the shelf, because I just wasn't happy with it. I have one stubborn rule for this business of mine: I will not release a design I wouldn't be proud to hang in my own home. So every year, I'd pick Jardín back up, stitch a new version, tinker with the layout, swap out a color, mutter at it, and shelve it again. By late 2022, after a lot of beautiful failures, it finally clicked. The design was right. The teaching was clear. The colorways sang. Jardín officially joined the AOA Embroidery Family in 2023, and I am so glad I held the line until it was ready.
