Brick Stitch is such a great stitch to fill areas within your pattern.

How to Back Stitch - Embroidery Tutorial by And Other Adventures Embroidery Co Brick Stitch Tutorial by And Other Adventures Embroidery Co How To Brick Stitch Hand Embroidery Tutorial by And Other Adventures Embroidery Co

1. Create a straight line of back stitches.

2. Next you will create a second line of back stitches but these will be offset from the line you created in Step 1.  All of these stitches will be exactly the same length with the exception of the end stitches.  These stitches at the end will be half the size of all the other stitches.

4. Repeat Steps 1-2.

This will create a look similar to a row of bricks of subway tile.

HINTS:

  • I used 6 strands of floss to create the design shown in the photo.  But you can adjust your floss count to create lots of different kind of looks.
  • Try to keep your stitch size consistent.  This will create a more uniform, finished look.
